I know, yet more news from this years Geneva Motor Show, but this one was quite the surprise for everyone. Nobody knew about this one until now, but Audi give us the 2018 Audi RS5 coupe.
Visually, it’s similar to the A5 and S5 couples but just “sportier”. Certain areas have had their size bumped a bit, such as the wheels, the air intakes on the front bumper and the tailpipes. Also, chrome isn’t really considered “racy” so there’s a fair bit of black accents around the car, from the headlights to the side skirts.
On to the interior – leather sport seats are provided and also have an optional diamond stitching, as well as a flat bottomed RS steering wheel. The unqiue RS screen on the inside of the gauge cluster also shows the torque output, tire pressure and g-forces. Sounds rather spectacular!
Underneath the bonet lies a 2.9 litre twin-turbocharged V6 that puts out 450 horsepower and 442.5 pound-feet or torque. With this you’ll have no problem going 0 to 60mph in about 3 seconds. Power is given to all 4 wheels by way of an eight-speed automatic.
If the RS5 doesn’t quite take your fancy then there are several optional upgrades, including: Sport differential, carbon ceramic brakes, dynamic steering and dynamic ride control. The dynamic ride control controls the vehicle movements with shocked connected diagonally across the car to give the ride an extra dose of stiffness and agility.
The 2018 Audi RS5 will land in Germany this june, and is to be priced at €80,900. That would make it just over £70,000 here in the UK.
