Malcolm Johnson

editor[@]manwants.co.uk

With almost four decades of editorial experience behind him, Malcolm co-founded (What every) Man Wants in June 2016 with his long time collaborator Patrick MacDonald.
With their combined experience and passion for accurate, topical and entertaining news items, they have quickly forged an essential web presence for the ‘working guy’.

Malcolm lives in a 17th century cottage with his wife and three dogs.

A keen painter, Malcolm can often be found in the fields around his house painting landscapes. When weather doesn’t permit his artistic endeavours he enjoys nothing more than a pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and a good Stephen King novel.

Patrick ‘Paddy’ MacDonald

paddy[@]manwants.co.uk

‘Paddy Mack’ is our deputy editor. Throughout his thirty year career in journalism he’s covered everything from cricket, opera and theatre to motor racing and classic literature. A confirmed Francophile, Paddy holidays at his second home in Languedoc every Autumn with his wife, Alison.

Paddy is also a keen cook and despite his firm affinity with the French culture favours Italian cuisine above all. Paddy and Alison live in their gorgeous Georgian townhouse and have a wide collection of Impressionist art.

Guy Goldsmith

guy[@]manwants.co.uk

Guy joins Man Wants with over twelve years experience in IT. Graduating from Bradford University with a degree in Computer Science, the keen traveller spent two years travelling Asia before landing a job as a programmer with a Forbes 100 telecoms company in New York.

Guy returned to his native Oxfordshire five years later to marry his long time girlfriend. They live in Banbury with their son and cats.

Thomas Finn

tom[@]manwants.co.uk

Thomas is the resident athlete whose personal mission is to get the office active! Needless to say he’s failing miserably. Thomas runs a successful fitness program in a wide range of gyms that he plans to extend to schools and colleges in the next few years.

He drops by Man Wants HQ regularly to offer his views on anything sport and fitness.

Carl Wilson

carl[@]manwants.co.uk

Carl is a self-confessed ‘IT numpty’. He’s happiest climbing a ladder with a brush in his hand or sawing a large piece of wood in two. No job is too big or too small for him. In fact, Carl made our desks and bookcases and painted them.

An avid follower of Chelsea FC, Carl can often be heard singing the praises of his beloved blues. He joins us at his blue desk three days a week to offer his thoughts on anything cool in the world of autos and DIY. He may also contribute the odd paragraph to the sport section when Tom allows it.

Glynn Williams

glynn[@]manwants.co.uk

A man of few words, Glynn is 100% tuned into the world of popular entertainment. What he doesn’t know about Monty Python probably isn’t worth knowing. We reckon the largest portion of our bandwidth is probably swallowed up by Glynn’s trawling of the internet in search of news and trends in the world of film and TV.

A keen console gamer, Glynn has them all. Though his favourite gaming platform is Sega’s Dreamcast he can be found zapping his way around on an XBox or Playstation. All in the name of research, of course!

Glynn lives with his girlfriend and pet snakes; Archie and Clyde.

Alison ‘Ali’ Heaney

ali[@]manwants.co.uk

‘Ali’ keeps us all grounded and on target. A stickler for detail, Alison ably takes on the roles of writer, sub-editor, marketer and chief researcher.

Shortly after earning a 1st in Human, Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University, Alison found her way into journalism and she continues to write regular columns for traditional and web-based media on a wide range of cultural issues. She’s also a bit of a self-taught expert in social media and online marketing.

Weekends are never dull in Ali’s world. As well as being a keen runner you’ll often find her climbing, competing in Triathlons or visiting a European city. On the rare occasion she has nothing planned you’ll likely find her curled up with a novel and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

Alison lives in Bath where with her best friend and chocolate Labrador, Snowball.
