Despite claiming previously that Sony wouldn’t approve them mod support, Bethesda have announced that the Special Edition of Skyrim and Fallout 4 will now both recieve modding support on the PS4.
Furthermore, they’re also both receive updates to take advantage of the new PS4 Pro.
Skyrim will receive modding support first upon the launch of its remastered edition on 28th October with the PS4 Pro support allowing the game to be rendered in native 4k.
After that, Bethesda will be shifting its focus to adding similar features to Fallout 4. So far it isn’t clear if it will have 4k support but it will have “enhanced lighting and graphics features”.
Creating mods requires you to download Bethesda’s Creation Kit, as they explain:
“You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do. By creating a Bethesda.net account, you’ll be able to browse and try mods right from within the game.”
“We are excited finally to get modding to our PlayStation fans who have supported us for so long. Modding has been an important part of our games for over 10 years, and we hope to do even more in the coming year for all our players, regardless of platform.“
