Man Wants

Why am I going bald?

Unfortunately, us Men go bald as we get older. It’s just one of those things, it’s going to happen. When it will actually make a start though, it depends.

You may or may not already be aware, but you’re losing hair all the time. Apparently, it could be from 100 up to 100,000 strands from your scalp a day.

At any given time, 90% of the hair on your head is growing in a phase that could last up to 6 years. After its growing phase, it will then rest and shed after a few months.

A new hair replaces the shed hair. However, as we get older this cycle slows down. When this cycle is disrupted, no new hair takes the place of the old one. The result is a shiny bald head.

Certain factors can lead to hair loss, some making it quicker than others. A quarter of men begin their baldness in their 30’s. Around two thirds of men are already bald by 60, or at least nearly there.

Genetics, nutritional deficiency, drug side effects, or even stress caused by illness can all play a role in hair loss. Either way, it tends to catch up with a lot of us no matter how much we avoid it.

I feel quite blessed to still have a head full of hair while I’m middle aged. I almost feel sorry for the likes of Guy and Tom though. They pretend not to care, but I know they do.
