3 ways that Chocolate can be good for you

Easter is coming, which means there will be a lot of chocolate going about. We’ve been brought up thinking it’s junk food, and to be honest, it is. However, it actually does have some health benefits too.

While it isn’t particularly healthy in large amounts, chocolate can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet. Great news for any of chocoholics out there. Let’s not live in denial here – it’s not just women that get obsessed with this sugary delight. Men can fall into a chocolate coma too.

A Healthy Heart

Seriously. Our heart is one of the most important body parts and we have look after it. It comes with great news that a small quantity of cocoa-rich dark chocolaty goodness can improve blood vessel function. This will lower your blood pressure and cholesterol as well as reducing any dips in insulin levels.

A good enough reason alone to give yourself a daily dose of cocoa. Just don’t overdo it.

Helps keep away Bowel Cancer

Dark chocolate does us even more favours, as it can help us steer clear of bowel cancer. The dark stuff is full of polyphenols and plays an important role in protecting us against disease. In particular, bowel cancer.

Chocolate improves your mood

This goes without saying. Chocolate raises our endorphin levels, which is why it makes us feel so good. If you’re ever having a bad day, just grab yourself a dairy milk and feast on a few squares. It should help lift your spirits a little.

So it’s not much admittedly, but it certainly has its little impact. Easter isn’t all that bad really health wise after all!
